PART 2-- Meredith (Yiran) Liu-- OMG!!! Look at how American Dream fools Nick and George!!!

📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍📍

WELCOME TO MeRRRRRR's BLO

PS: This is about The American Dream andddddd The Great Gatsby 👀👀👀

LET'S GO 👉👉👉

Character Part👨👬👨👬👨:

Due to the warNick is the person who has 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ no detailed PURPOSES and GOALS for his life, so he just follows others to move out and to earn money by himself without the help from his wealthy family👪👪👪(untraditional 🌀🌀🌀). He is an observer 👁👁👁👁 of the society, who discovers the true colors of the upper class (awesome !!! 😎😎😎 )however, he is still often confused by the COMPLEXITIES of SOCIETY and HUMANITY(toughhhhh Philosophy + Psychology🧐🧐🧐)

He is the representative of the lost generation who planned by the American Dream.

Next is...👻👻👻 George 👻👻👻!!!

Compared with Nick, George Wilson comes from the bottom of the society who works very HARD 💦💦💦 but is still in distress for MONEY💰💰💰.  George is EASY to TRUST others and NAIVE that he humbly expected Tom to sell his old car 🚗🚗🚗to him (nononono ❎❎❎ Be careful!!! Don't trust him man!!!) and had the faith in American Dream that he can earn more money if he keeps working harder, unfortunately, both of them didn’t live up to his EXPECTATIONS and DECEIVE him.

He is the representative of the people at the bottom who strongly believes in the hope brought by the American Dream.

KEEP GOING:👇👇👇

"MY" American Dream🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
From my point of view, The American Dream is a decorated way for the government to develop the country by focusing on the minority of particular fields (OMG😱😱😱), especially the business 💼💼💼💻💻💻. For FOREIGNERS, America has different requirements and treatments for people in different fields and it always gives priority to those successful businessmen and people who have high-tech skills⁉️⁉️⁉️. For the LOCAL PEOPLE, the government only provides plentiful opportunities to promote economic 📈📈📈and high-tech📡📡📡 development and ignores those people who try to survive at the bottom❗❓❗❓❗❓😤😤😤😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤮🤮🤮

CHILL OUT 😶😶😶

MOVING ON ➡️➡️➡️

How is the American Dream reflected by Nick and George???

NICK reflects the idea of the American Dream that BUSINESS IS THE BEST
NICK has no interests in business at all, but he still chose it because he was lost after the Great War and had no personal ideals about his uncertainty future, (no direction is soooo bad😵😵😵) the best choice for him was to follow people around him that leaving his traditional family and entering the bond business(but really???). NICK went to the New York🗽🗽🗽-- a wonderland for business, bonds and trades💵💵💵(maybe Wall Street???🆒🆒🆒).

It seems that people’s common dream is to earn more money 🤑🤑🤑and the best way to approach it is through business (common and popular☑️☑️☑️), otherwise, there won't be so many people who want to go into the business. This demonstrates that America extremely cares about the business and provides a bunch of opportunities to it in order to develop the country‼️‼️‼️

GEORGE reflects that The American Dream is BIASED towards DIFFERENT FIELDS and it IGNORES the poor.

Compared with Nick, the life of GEORGE is much more MISERABLE, even though their places are so close❗❕❗❕

Both of them live on themselves and work hard, but GEORGE’s small car repair shop is on the ruined main street in the valley of ashes and Nick works in a cozy office in busy New York. (their living places are totally different too!!! Look At the contrast🙃🙃🙃WOW unbelievable😮😮😮)
The only reason to explain these two contradictory situations is that the American Dream is totally unequal to people in different fields and IGNORES the poor. If the American Dream can be truly fulfilled by everyone who works hard, then what about George?????? Didn't he work hard??????(hehehehehe💩💩💩)

Unfortunately, both of NICK and GEORGE are easily influenced by the American Dream and haven't realized the truth behind the American Dream, they always have faith in it, just like most people. Even Nick !!! A sophisticated observer is misled!!! Soooo scary😱😱😱

👉NEXT PART👈

Whether they have achieved their American Dream or not ???

For Nick(Ohhhh It is hard to say🤯🤯🤯)
I think that he is a kind of success in achieving his American Dream (he is sophisticated🤨🤨🤨). In my opinion, his Dream is having a different and happy life that settling down in a new place, earning money by himself without others' help, and finding the meaning of his life(??? Maybe🤔🤔🤔 because he is lost)
Nick absolutely moved to the new place-- WEST EGG🥚 and he found a job to support his daily life (the first two parts are down✔️), but Does he really enjoy his current life???💭💭💭 Does he find out his meaning of life???💭💭💭I think NO✖✖✖.I do believe that Nick is not as happy as when he first came to West Egg that he is getting more and more  confused, shocked, and disappointed by complex relationship and hypocritical people around him, which brings him closer to the darkness of the humanity and society.  SO I Would like to say that HE HAS ACHIEVED HALF OF HIS DREAM. (Hmmm fifty-fifty🙊🙊🙊)
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Well, I think that George hasn’t achieved his American Dream at all. His American Dream is to improve the living quality of his family, however, his happy 😄😄😄family life 👫👫👫is completely destroyed ☹️☹️☹️that he cannot earn enough money 💲💲💲, and also his wife is cheated on💔💔💔 him. (It Is Tom❕❕❕That bad guy😤😤😤)

🔸Then🔸 WHO needs to CHANGE❓❓❓

(you OR me??? hahahaha definitely not)🔻🔻🔻

To NICK and GEORGE:
I really think the society needs to change, if the society can provide more opportunities to other jobs (maybe car mechanic😂😂😂), maybe Nick would not have the stereotype that it is easy to earn money in business, then he may enter other fields, which helps him figure out what he is really interested in and helps him start ideal life❗❕❗❕❗❕ And George can have more chances to earn more money, then his wife may not cheat on him, so that he can realize his dream too❕❗❕❗❕❗

🤜LAST PART🤛

Connection with the Media ⤵️⤵️⤵️:

NICK and THE COUPLE on the cover of Forbes Magazine have a few SIMILARITIES that they all choose to enter the business to earn money (the couple--create their own clothing brand; Nick-- enter a Bond company) and they all had no money when they first entered this field. The most important is that❕❕❕ they all show the Biased American Dream-- business has the most opportunities (most means unfair😦😦😦) so that everyone should have a try❗❓❗❓❗❓(Oh really???) Then what about the lower class and other fields--GEORGE❔❔❔Oh, they are abandoned by the American Dream and deceived by the minimal probability of being succeed lower class and other fields in American Dream❗❗❗❗❗❗

  1. Part 3-- Elaine’s personal comments for Meredith’s Part 2

    Hiiiiiiiiiii Mer!!!!

Here is your most BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING ROOOOOMMATE ELAAAAAINE!! I have to say that it is a little strange to write a comment for your blog while you are just standing by my side LOL!! But still, I think you did a really good job! Your blog is so attractive that when I first read it, your colorful front just caught my eyes. After further reading, I found that these colors are not just for decoration, most of them are very logical, and you also set the blog by highlighting your main focus, which makes it easier for me to understand your ideas during the reading process. Also, I think you successfully introduce your idea by using some pictures which are appropriate with your blog.

For your character analysis part, I think you did it really well!! Your idea towards Nick and George is creative I think, before reading your blog, I seldom link their actions to the lost generation. And you also use a lot of emoji and brackets in your blog, and they add a lot of fun to your blog. When I read what you wrote in brackets, I can feel your attitude towards your main idea and your definition of the American Dream, and I cannot agree with your feeling more!! From your words: “but Does he really enjoy his current life???”, I really like this part, Nick as a narrator for the whole story, you are not just using his view to see others, you also pay attention to him. As a result, I think your analysis about Nick is good, and you carefully discovered the complicated points that Nick represents about the lost generation, and did a nice deep interpretation.

On the other hand, I have to say that there is something not so successful in your blog. In the part about “who need to change”, you say that “if the society can provide more opportunities to other jobs (maybe car mechanic)”, Nick may be less confused about the society and his life. I think this part is a little lack of logic because, in my opinion, Nick can choose what job to do, he has many choices, and society does not restrict him to do bond business.
Also, I think some of the content in brackets is a bit distracting. It is great to express your own attitude, but some of them make me feel a little unnecessary.

At last, as the most amazing and nice roommate in the world, I must say that some places are waiting for you to fix. In your part about “whether they achieve their American Dream”, you mention that Nick becomes more and more confused and disappointed to the society, I think you need to add some quotations about Nick’s expression to be the evidence and support your idea. Otherwise, I can hardly agree with your idea because I think Nick sometimes act just like other old money like Tom and Daisy, wearing a mask of hypocrisy. For example, he said he would not judge others, but he still judges others again and again. If you analyze your idea more logically with quotations, I think you can convince me easily!!

Overall, I like your blog, and it is really attractive and interesting. You did a really good work!
