Part 2 Aria (Xinrui) Li
Let us talk about Daisy Buchanan πΈπΈπΈ
Daisy lives in a luxuriousπππhouse after marriage. Living conditions were more extravagantπππ than Nick had expected.
Daisy loved moneyπΈπΈπΈ and had a clearπππ understanding of the status of womenπ©π©π© in society at that time. That's why she let her daughterπ§π§π§ be a fool. Daisy is selfish because she wants to have moneyπ°π°π° and pursue loveπππat the same time. Daisy was very beautiful πππand charmingπππ, which attracted Gatsby to her. She cheatedπππ on Gatsby to have love and money at the same time. However, when she knew the realπππ identity of Gatsby, she immediately ran awayπππ and returned to Tom's embraceπππ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The American dream shows that everyone wants their own freedomπππ to be happy, whether it's religion, loveπππ, or moneyπ€π€π€. It creates a fantastic but unreachableπππ dream, which lets people too eager to live a perfectπππ life.
"If he left the room for a minute, she'd look around uneasily, and say: " Where's Tom gone?"(47 Scott) Daisy is infatuated with Tom when they came back. Daisy wanted to let Tom stay with her all the time. She even had her little girl. The appearance of the little girl seems like Daisy and Tom's family is perfcectπππ, and their relationship became better than before. However, all of this is just a false appearance. "Tom's got some woman in New York" ( 17 Scott) It means that Tom did not pay any attention to his marriage and family. His daughterπ§π§π§ did not repair their relationship and did not let Tom care more about Daisy. His action hurt Daisy's heartπππ and make his family complicated. Daisy wants to have moneyπ°π°π° and get Tom's loyal at the same time. So she cheatedπππ on Gatsby to enjoy the loveπππ. But when she noticed the real identity of Gatsby, she chose the returnπππ for money. She is materialistic π€π€π€and only did everything to keep her upper-class status. Daisy pursues happinessπππ that money takes the most prominent%%% part in it, and it is superficial. The American dream is easy to break.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To Daisy, her American Dream is to have money, social identity, and lover's loyal at the same time, which is hard to achieve because the one- Gatsby who loves her is already dead for her crazy actions. She chose Tom, who has the experience of cheatingπππ others not only because Tom provides safetyπ¦Ίπ¦Ίπ¦Ί and an excellent social reputation for her but also Gatsby wants too much from her. They movedπ«π«π« to other placesπππ for a new life, and Myrtle diedπΌπΌπΌ. The gapπ·π·π· between Tom and Daisy's marriage seems to disappear✋✋✋. But will Tom never find another mistress and always loyal to Daisy? The answer is NO. Cheating is zero or a million timesπππ. Daisy only can have the money Tom given without getting his faithful, and based on the status of women, and she cannot find another one to marry. Her American Dream is broke.
I think the whole of society ππ¬π«should be changed. Because whatever excesses Tom had, there is still one fact that cheating is totally wrongπ π π in the marriage, which is rudeπππ and disgustingπ€π€π€. I think the upper-classπππ group needs to change their mind. Everyone is at the sameπ₯π₯π₯ level. Rich does not mean that you can do whatever you want. Tom represents the upper-class thinking which let society become worse and worseπππ. Their pride and arrogance destroy the low-incomeπ·π·π· family to make the whole country in a mess.
In the religion,some religions which is smallπ―π―π― , and people have a fixedπ»π»π» influence to them equals the poorπ΄π΄π΄ in the Great Gatsby. The poor were looked down πππupon by the nobility. Because of who they are, they can't be treated fairly. Just like religious people treated unfairly only based on their beliefsπΌπΌπΌ.
ReplyDeleteHi!!!!! Aria, I’m Althea,πππ
I think this is a good blog to help me understand the character named Daisy. π€©She show the inner world of Daisy, and show the society help to create this character. She also compare Daisy with other characters, like Gatsby and Tom.π€― This help me know Daisy was a vigour girl before and who or which make her become focus on money and classes. I know Daisy also want to fight with the classes before, so she do a good job about the character analysis. π€¨However, she did not show about her idea about American Dream. She only show the Daisy’s American Dream and I’m not see the connect about her American Dream. She also not show the link with the media example. In addition, she did not show who need to change, she pay more attention on the analysis of the characters and the plots, but the American Dream is more important. Moreover, the blog can have more decorations to make it attract more people. π€π€π€
