Part 2 Aria (Xinrui) Li
Let us talk about Daisy Buchanan ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ
Daisy lives in a luxurious๐๐๐house after marriage. Living conditions were more extravagant๐๐๐ than Nick had expected.
Daisy loved money๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ and had a clear๐๐๐ understanding of the status of women๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ in society at that time. That's why she let her daughter๐ง๐ง๐ง be a fool. Daisy is selfish because she wants to have money๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ and pursue love๐๐๐at the same time. Daisy was very beautiful ๐๐๐and charming๐๐๐, which attracted Gatsby to her. She cheated๐๐๐ on Gatsby to have love and money at the same time. However, when she knew the real๐๐๐ identity of Gatsby, she immediately ran away๐๐๐ and returned to Tom's embrace๐๐๐.

It creates a fantastic but unreachable๐๐๐ dream, which lets people too eager to live a perfect๐๐๐ life.

"If he left the room for a minute, she'd look around uneasily, and say: " Where's Tom gone?"(47 Scott) Daisy is infatuated with Tom when they came back. Daisy wanted to let Tom stay with her all the time. She even had her little girl. The appearance of the little girl seems like Daisy and Tom's family is perfcect๐๐๐, and their relationship became better than before. However, all of this is just a false appearance. "Tom's got some woman in New York" ( 17 Scott) It means that Tom did not pay any attention to his marriage and family. His daughter๐ง๐ง๐ง did not repair their relationship and did not let Tom care more about Daisy. His action hurt Daisy's heart๐๐๐ and make his family complicated. Daisy wants to have money๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ and get Tom's loyal at the same time. So she cheated๐๐๐ on Gatsby to enjoy the love๐๐๐. But when she noticed the real identity of Gatsby, she chose the return๐๐๐ for money. She is materialistic ๐ค๐ค๐คand only did everything to keep her upper-class status. Daisy pursues happiness๐๐๐ that money takes the most prominent๏ผ ๏ผ ๏ผ part in it, and it is superficial. The American dream is easy to break.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To Daisy, her American Dream is to have money, social identity, and lover's loyal at the same time, which is hard to achieve because the one- Gatsby who loves her is already dead for her crazy actions. She chose Tom, who has the experience of cheating๐๐๐ others not only because Tom provides safety๐ฆบ๐ฆบ๐ฆบ and an excellent social reputation for her but also Gatsby wants too much from her. They moved๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ to other places๐๐๐ for a new life, and Myrtle died๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ. The gap๐ท๐ท๐ท between Tom and Daisy's marriage seems to disappearโโโ. But will Tom never find another mistress and always loyal to Daisy? The answer is NO. Cheating is zero or a million times๐๐๐. Daisy only can have the money Tom given without getting his faithful, and based on the status of women, and she cannot find another one to marry. Her American Dream is broke.
________________________________________________________________________________

I think the whole of society ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ซshould be changed. Because whatever excesses Tom had, there is still one fact that cheating is totally wrong๐ ๐ ๐ in the marriage, which is rude๐๐๐ and disgusting๐ค๐ค๐ค. I think the upper-class๐๐๐ group needs to change their mind. Everyone is at the same๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ level. Rich does not mean that you can do whatever you want. Tom represents the upper-class thinking which let society become worse and worse๐๐๐. Their pride and arrogance destroy the low-income๐ท๐ท๐ท family to make the whole country in a mess.

In the religion๏ผsome religions which is small๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ , and people have a fixed๐ป๐ป๐ป influence to them equals the poor๐ด๐ด๐ด in the Great Gatsby. The poor were looked down ๐๐๐upon by the nobility. Because of who they are, they can't be treated fairly. Just like religious people treated unfairly only based on their beliefs๐ผ๐ผ๐ผ.

ReplyDeleteHi!!!!! Aria, Iโm Althea,๐๐๐
I think this is a good blog to help me understand the character named Daisy. ๐คฉShe show the inner world of Daisy, and show the society help to create this character. She also compare Daisy with other characters, like Gatsby and Tom.๐คฏ This help me know Daisy was a vigour girl before and who or which make her become focus on money and classes. I know Daisy also want to fight with the classes before, so she do a good job about the character analysis. ๐คจHowever, she did not show about her idea about American Dream. She only show the Daisyโs American Dream and Iโm not see the connect about her American Dream. She also not show the link with the media example. In addition, she did not show who need to change, she pay more attention on the analysis of the characters and the plots, but the American Dream is more important. Moreover, the blog can have more decorations to make it attract more people. ๐ค๐ค๐ค
