Colin Part 2

Part 2      - - Colin (Jiawei Liu). 

Now, I am going to discuss about the protagonist of the novel Gatsby. American Dream is The process of pushing people to make progress and complete what they want to achieve.  

 

Gatsby is a young man of about 30 years old. He had a poor childhood in North Dakota, but he realized his dream of becoming a wealthy person by participating in crimes including walking illegal alcohol and buying and selling stolen securities. And his main motivation for becoming rich is his love for Daisy. Gatsby fell in love with Daisy's luxury, grace and charm, and lied to her about her background in order to recover Daisy. So he bought a magnificent mansion and held a luxurious dinner every week just to pursue with Daisy. 

At the beginning of Gatsby's American dream, he wanted to become rich. After unremitting efforts, although the channel of making money was illegal, he still fulfilled his dream. The purpose of making money is to pursue Daisy. In order to achieve his purpose, he deceived Daisy and lied about his background. When he was about to succeed, Tom dismantled him from Daisy. Gatsby has been courageously pursuing his dreams and doing things boldly, but his path to accomplishing his dreams was paved with illegal crimes and lies, which made him ultimately fail. Perhaps Gatsby changed his thoughts and used the most authentic self to impress Daisy. Maybe he would succeed, or he would take a legal path to work hard to make money, and he would be very rich.
