My opinion about the American Dream πΌ
As James Truslow Adams
said in 1931, the American Dream represent a dream which everyone has the equal
right and opportunity to realize their goals, achieve the happiness, and become
successful. πππHowever, in my perspective, this pursuit of self-accomplishment
will make people pay too much attention on themselves, and it may cause people
to lack the ability of listening and understanding others. In another words,
the American Dream will change people in society into isolated islands, and make
the gap between each other wider and wider.π£π£ No sympathy, no caring, no understanding…….
People will hard to feel any emotional connections about others!!! π±The whole
world will be filled with indifferent people and selfish guys……π
The American Dream!

My Personal ExperienceπΌ
When I was 16, I went to a high school which is full of outstanding students from my hometown. All my classmates were diligent, hardworking and competitive. πππWe all had a dream to be admitted to a good university, so we worked hard 24/7, and participated activities a lot.ππ However, we were so devoted to our own dream that we were not willing to “waste” our time to help others.πππ
For example, I once had a math problem, and I asked my desk mate for help. π¨π¨
She was doing the same math homework at that time, but she just covered her answer with her hand and refused me with an excuse like she was unsure about her answer. I was very sad at that time…… πππIt may be because I was a competitor for her, or she thought it didn’t worth wasting her time to teach me. No matter what the reason is, the pursuit of self-accomplishment will definitely lead to competition and exclusive behavior. People will stay away from others, and gradually become selfish and indifferent. ππ£

Here is an ExampleπΌ
In the beginning of the movie Joker, the main character Arthur is on a bus going home. As a comedian, he is making funny face at the little boy in front of him to make him laugh.ππ πHowever, when the boy’s mother turns around to see who is playing with her son and she sees Arthur, she immediately cold her face and requires him “stop bothering my son”.πππ At this scene we can see that, on the one hand, the woman doesn’t trust a stranger like Arthur; πon the other hand, the woman doesn’t want any social interaction with others. π£This vigilance and exclusion of social interaction reflect people’s isolation and indifference towards others. Due to the American Dream which advocates self-accomplishment and competition, people will become more and more selfish and cold-blood than the woman in the movie.ππ
